Why standing seam suits most metal roofs on homes.
Metal roofs come in a few styles. Standing seam panels run in one piece from ridge to eave and lock together at raised seams, with the fasteners hidden underneath, so nothing punctures the face of the roof. That clean, concealed-fastener design is why it is the system we recommend for most homes.
Whatever the system, a metal roof lasts as long as what goes under and around it. We put metal down over new underlayment, with flashing at every wall, chimney, valley, and vent, so the roof can reach its full life. We also install metal shingle systems and repair existing metal roofs, including exposed-fastener panels.

How long does a standing seam metal roof last?+
A well-installed metal roof commonly lasts 40 to 70 years with very little upkeep, often two to three times the life of an asphalt roof. Copper can last longer still. The underlayment and flashing underneath decide whether a metal roof reaches that range.
Metal roof vs. shingles: which is better?+
It depends on how long you plan to stay and what you want the roof to do. Metal costs more up front, lasts far longer, handles wind well, and reflects more summer heat. Architectural shingles cost less now and suit most homes and HOAs. We price both so you can compare honestly.
Is a metal roof worth it?+
If you plan to stay in the house for a long time, live near the coast, or have low-slope sections a shingle roof struggles with, it often is. If you are likely to sell in a few years, a shingle roof may make more sense. We will tell you which fits your house.
Is a metal roof louder in the rain?+
Not the way people expect. Installed over solid decking and underlayment, a modern metal roof is close to as quiet as asphalt. The drumming sound people picture comes from metal over open framing, like a barn, not a finished home.
Can a metal roof go over my existing shingles?+
We do not lay metal over an old roof. We tear off to the deck, replace any soft decking, and put down new underlayment, so the metal sits on a sound, flat surface and nothing is trapped underneath.

Yes. We repair standing seam and exposed-fastener metal roofs, from loose or worn fasteners and failed seams to flashing and penetrations, matched to the panel profile and finish you have.
